Our April meeting will feature a discussion of the latest updates to all of Apple's various operating systems, with a focus on both Catalina, which was recently updated to version 10.15.4, and ipadOS, which with the update to version 13.4, now has support for external mice and/or trackpads! If we have time, we'll also talk about the need for continued vigilance about scams and phishing, which are increasing with everyone staying home from work.

The Black Canyon Macintosh User Group meets this month on March 12th at 7 p.m. Join us at our new meeting location! For the foreseeable future, we'll be meeting in the Colorado Mesa University building, at 245 S Cascade Ave in Montrose, room 100. You can enter from either the main entrance to the Montrose Library (then go left into the CMU building), or use the main CMU entrance on Cascade Ave. They often lock the door at 7, so don't be late!

For our March meeting, we will feature an explanation of the many flavors of "two-factor authentication", also known as "two-step verification". More and more services are requiring some form of "2FA", and it can be a confusing thing to set up and navigate for the uninitiated. There are also pitfalls in the process, ones we should all be aware of.

The Black Canyon Macintosh User Group meets on the second Thursday of the month, which for February is the 13th, at 7 p.m. We have a new meeting location! For the foreseeable future, we'll be meeting in the Colorado Mesa University building, at 245 S Cascade Ave in Montrose, room 100. For this month's meeting, we'll discuss ways to clean up both your photos and your Mac! All those duplicate photos in our Photos Library take up space; we'll explore how to remove duplicates as well as store archived photos on an external hard drive. We will also take a look at some of the more popular general Mac cleanup programs.

2020 is upon us, and it's time once again to give our devices a clean and smooth start to the new year. The Black Canyon Macintosh User Group meets on the second Thursday of the month, which for November is the 14th, at 7 p.m. Starting this month, we have a new meeting location! We'll be meeting in the Colorado Mesa University building, at 245 S Cascade Ave in Montrose, room 100. The initial part of the meeting will be an introduction to the new meeting space Including how to sign in to the internet and how the classroom can be used. 

We will also have a discussion on what topics members would like to have presented, and how to get better member participation. Several members have asked for an overview of all the changes in the new operating systems for iPhone, iPad and Mac, so we'll cover that as well.

After taking the summer off, our meetings return in September, with one of our entertaining catch-all Q&A sessions. On top of the usual grab-bag of member questions, Apple will have just announced this year's new iPhone models (on Tuesday the 10th), so there should be plenty to talk about. Please join us if you can (John Clark will be back to lead the discussion)!

Our April meeting will focus on the latest cord-cutting" options, including what we know so far about Apple's recently announced "Apple TV+". With the ever-increasing plethora of high-quality content available from services like Netflix, Hulu & Amazon Prime Video, many folks are opting to ditch their cable TV package (hence, cutting the cord), and switch to some combination of those options, and more. We'll do our best to give you all the info you need to decide whether or not the practice is something you should consider, so bring you questions, and your list of favorite shows!
